The wrist-palmĀ studiesĀ are useful to assess the conduction of the motor fibers in the wrist-palm and palm-muscle segments. A delay in distal latency may be caused by an increased conduction time in one of these segments or both. Palmar stimulation also allowed determination of the motor nerve conduction velocity (MNCV) in the segment across the carpal tunnel, the most common site of the median nerve compression and related to the carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS).
